**Description**

In this highly visible role you will:

-Design, develop and qualify high precision automated assembly tooling and manual fixture;

-Be directly responsible for the manufacturability of a world-class device from new product introduction through mass production ramp;

-Provide technical guidance on FATP (final assembly, test and pack) assembly automation related FA and yield improvement activities

-Contribute on a wide range of manufacturability concepts, processes and materials during the design phase to define and eliminate manufacturing risks and ensure the manufacturability of next generation devices

-Provide detailed assessments and critical Design For Manufacture reviews of engineering designs/drawings of components and assemblies

-Identify and highlight manufacturability issues during engineering builds to ensure that established product quality and yield levels are met at the start of production

-Set standard practices and provide engineering support with respect to technically complex testing methods and procedures


You will also contribute in areas such as process planning, line balancing, electronic and mechanical assembly;

as well as leveraging DFX methodology and tools to facilitate the transition of new products to mass production.


You will cultivate technical relationships with Engineering, Operations and Contract manufacturing during new product development through end of life.


Provide leadership and supervision to manufacturing engineers and cross-functional teams both at Apple and contract manufacturing sites worldwide.

Develop new and or improved processes through the application of theoretical and practical engineering


Be a key technical interface with Engineering, Design, Operations and overseas Contract Manufacturers Plan, develop and implement technically complex procedures for the testing and evaluation of new products.


Specify test requirements, compile and analyze data to make recommendations for design changes and final assembly standards.


This will include the use of Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis using Six Sigma principles.



**Education**

Minimum BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering- MSME preferred

Requires 2-5 years of experience in technical product manufacturing and/or fixture design role


**Additional Requirements**

Experience with as much of the following as possible:

Hands on engineering role with experience in design for manufacturability or manufacturing engineering a plus;

can consider fresh college graduate;

experience with heavy equipment development, process setup, tuning and optimization a plus;

-New product introduction, automation design and/or Manufacturing Operations experience;

-Design for Manufacturability, Failure/Data Analysis, Design of Experiments and statistical analysis using Six Sigma principles;

-A strong plus would be previous experience and knowledge of optics principles as they relate to CCD cameras, 2D and 1D lasers, and their use for positioning and critical alignment within fixtures;

-Basic understanding of adhesives, PSA's and VHB's a plus;

-Working knowledge of pneumatics, servo motors, PLC and and PC-based control systems a plus;

-NX, Solidworks or ProE CAD experience a plus;

-JMP, Minitab & Six Sigma experience a plus;
